GILROY FIELDS EQUESTRIAN TEAM
Interscholastic
Equestrian Association (IEA)
In a sport where most might feel more connected to their horse rather than other riders, the Gilroy Fields Equestrian Team was created to give a positive, team environment while also keeping riders motivated with their riding through the colder months. Regardless of the competition, we strive to teach each member despite the end result of their day, there are valuable lessons to be learned and gained. Most of all — sportsmanship, team comradery and perseverance are at the top of the list.
Middle & High School students compete regionally on horses provided by a host team or barn. Each rider competes at five fall/winter horse shows to matriculate enough points both individually and for the team to move forward into post season. This is a great opportunity for riders pursuing the competitive arena who might not necessarily have the opportunity/access to compete (regularly).
IEA is a nice organization that promotes a team atmosphere as well as progression for riders who may want to ride at the intercollegiate level. Fourth and fifth grade students are welcome to participate through coach approval on the middle school team.
The Gilroy Fields IEA Team is not affiliated with any particular local school, but most of our riders are from Voorheesville, Guilderland or Bethlehem.
